We did this project two years ago and we haven’t had a mark or scuff on this paint project at all. This is a great unique and budget friendly project to update your counters. It’s the base color before the other colors were sponges on. Wondering if this or any other product out there could update this outdated situation. If you have a hypodermic needle or a squeeze bottle with a small opening, you can squirt some wood glue into the spaces where the laminate lifted. If can stand up to life in a garage, a porch and kitchen floor should be no problem. The area by my stove couldn’t take the heat (mostly from splatters) and began to spot and then peel.

We now have black concrete sealed with poly resin which takes up to 500 degrees of heat. I am not sure where you can get one as my mobile home is a 1981 model. Our 1978 kitchen needed a complete overhaul so we did just that!

We didn’t live with this color for long before realizing we needed to change it up. That was too expensive for us, so we decided on a paint job. It’s up to you to figure out the colors and the intensity of those colors. Want to see how we updated some 1970’s wood paneling?

Hope my counters come out as well as yours ’cause yours look fantastic!

Do we just take it off in that section, or take it all up?

Try holding a cloth between both your hands to slide the cloth between cracks and layers. Weigh down the top of the counter until the glue dries and cares, 2-3 days. Very durable stuff, gas and oil resistant so it may be what you’re looking for.

You need to put a lite coat of topping compound to the clean bare partical board, then do your painting, let it dry the 2 coats of a good marine grade sealant.

We were amazed at how well this project has stood up. Also painted all cabinets (kitchen, bathrooms, laundry room). So many great projects out there—just gotta be adventurous and do it. I spent my winter vacation building these shelves into the wall of my little kitchen.
