Move over boring breakfast, there’s a new, tasty breakfast bar in town!
The bananas make these bars soft and moist and the oatmeal adds texture and makes them nice and chewy. Add 1/2 cup of your favorite nuts, pecans, walnuts, almonds to the batter. Allow the bananas to get very ripe, very speckled or even almost black. In a mixing bowl, beat peanut butter, brown sugar, and butter until smooth and fluffy.Add the oats, flour, wheat germ and baking soda until completely combined.
Remove from oven and cool 20 minutes in pan before cutting into bars. Store on countertop 3 to 4 day or in refrigerator 7 to 8 days. I take it from looking at your other recipes that it is a brand and not a type. I love creating great recipes & sharing them with you!

I like a simple breakfast and one that’s already prepared, a grab and go if you will, is the best. The darker the skin of a banana, the sweeter the fruit will be. Also, try adding dried raisins, blueberries or cranberries to your mixture. Line an 8×8 or 9×9 pan with parchment paper, allowing enough to paper to overhang on the sides to grasp and remove bars from pan. Package individually in zip-top bags for easy breakfasts or snacks.
Cedar Chicken Coop and Run With Planter by williams-sonoma.com
Beneath the coop, a mesh-enclosed run gives hens space to forage and exercise, and a built-in planter box arrives ready to fill with soil and edible plants. Sized to comfortably house four hens – up to six if they are allowed to range freely during the day. Back door drops down for easy two-handed egg collecting with no need to bend or crouch. An interior perch allows hens to relax in a comfortable position. Planter box is lined with weed fabric to keep soil contained and set over a sloping galvanized metal roof that channels water out the side, past the edge of the run.
For example, my door was built a bit crooked so there is a large gap at the top. The run below is quite tall so feels quite spacious, and we let them out during the day so it is plenty of room. It’s perfect for sleeping quarters and laying eggs, but not acceptable for confinement.
We get constant comments about how it looks, and love that it occupies a small footprint in our small city yard, yet is quite big due to the two-story construction. I am impressed that something sold this day and age is actually nicer than it looks in the picture. I find this type of coop and tractors as well to be quite cruel unless the hens are let out all day to free range or put in a much larger pen as soon as they wake up in the morning. They need to peck the ground, look for bugs, graze – and this cannot be done in 25 sf. This coop is suitable for two or three hens, tops, and even then they must have another, larger space in which to spend their days. Plus, the coop smells great due to the cedar, and a guest even remarked on it.
We love the big living space that occupies only a 5’x5′ footprint and doesn’t take up the whole yard. An opening near the bottom of the crock allows continuous refilling of water from the upper. The two nesting boxes are accessible through a drop-down back door at waist height for easy egg collection. Hand built from sustainably harvested western red cedar, custom milled by a local, family owned sawmill.
Spacious, watertight interior includes two nest boxes, removable for cleaning. Heavy-duty mesh floor allows manure to fall through, so the coop stays clean inside. Chicken door and egg door lock to keep hens safe from predators. Area below coop provides 25 square feet of run space (approx. Vents and doors with galvanized wire mesh allow for plenty of fresh air, while keeping predators out. Ladder can be raised, via a cord above the egg door, to keep chicks safely sheltered until they feather out and to secure hens inside while you rake out the run. For a while opossums were getting in through an opening and eating eggs. But there are many cracks and uneven areas in the other parts of the structure. I have given it a whitewash and placed the coop on top of a short wall of paving stones. It just needs some ingenuity to make it strong for the years to come. There is plenty of room inside, and our girls share a nesting box. There are no instructions though so if you are not comfortable with assembling it yourself it may not be for you. If you aren’t confining them to the run underneath, the coop could fit 5-6 chickens.
We asked them not to set up the coop because we didn’t want them to damage it. I get many compliments, and the coop has plenty of room for my hens. I have used this beautiful coop for a year now, and love it!
The planter works great too – has a simple mechanism that directs all the water out and over the run below (which is hard to see in the pictures). This “coop” is beautiful and looks great – but is nowhere near large enough for the stated four hens, let alone six. Chickens are curious, active creatures and love to zoom around, investigating and playing!
It is made of very high quality cedar, super-strong hardware cloth, and a great watertight roof!
When have you ever heard of a coop smelling acceptable?

Meals To Feed To A Large Crowd by heavenlyhomemakers.com
I steam several pounds of frozen green beans, peas, or corn. Slice them in half length-wise, butter them, and warm them in the oven for an additional, filling simple side dish. Smile while you prepare the food and while you’re serving it. Serve with fresh fruits and veggies, maybe bread, muffins, or corn chips. I could add to the list is spaghetti with salad and french bread. I have made it cheaply using jarred sauce, pasta and cheese bought with coupons. Cut a block of mozzarella cheese into cubes and place at intervals all over the top of the casserole, then poke the cheese down inside the pasta with a small spoon – this makes melty cheese all through the pasta. So fun that you have that many people come through your doors to minister to. It was a lot of fun to pick out different toppings and everyone could find some combo they liked. Indiana chili works out nice too with some french bread for dipping. Probably one of my favorite meals growing up and still tastes great to me!
If not, then make up a batch of cream of celery or mushroom soup ahead of time. Broccoli/cauliflower/carrot combo is my fav to use for this, but most any veg works. Then top with chicken breasts… you can buy a bigg bag of frozen chix. Prep it all ahead if you want… i’ve even prepped it all w/ frozen ingredients and popped back in the freezer till the party or whatever. Scramble eggs easy, let people top with cheese if they want……. Roast off a huge turkey slice, add cranberry sauce, letuuce what ever else serve with potat wedges or potato salad!
You can also have avocado and cilantro to sprinkle on top.Homemade dipped chocolates ~ ie, peanut butter bon bons, etc. All thde college dining halls serve it at most lunch and dinner times and it is what they eat when they don’t see anything else they want. Add rice (4 cups) and let it get coated with butter thoroughly. Add (12 cups) liquid, combination of fresh homemade chicken broth and plain water if needed for some hydration. Bring to a boil and then lower heat to simmer and stir occasionally while rice cooks to keep rice from burning on the bottom of the pan. For breakfasts it was fruit with cinnamon rolls, bagels, muffins or granola bars. I dump baby carrots onto a tray, slice some cucumbers, and set out some ranch dip. My buffets always look so pretty and inviting because of these fruits and veggies!
Here are my best tips about working ahead before company arrives. It’s easy and well, spilled water isn’t a concern like spilled grape juice. This also ensures that people with food allergies or those who are picky can fill their plate they way they need and like. After all, if you’re going to make one, you might as well make…more than one. Then cover tops of pasta dishes with addtional shredded cheese.
You can also do chicken and rice bake or tuna noodle casserole with a salad make a nice and easy dinner. It’s very easy and is great for leftovers, if there are any!
I make my own “cream of” soups, but you could buy it if necessary. Then pour your cream of celery or mushroom soup over top of the veg.
You can also sprinkle with some bread crumbs/butter. I throw all the ingredients into my crock pot and cook it on low 3-4 hours. Such a great wedding present as well.) 4 cans chicken (4 diced cooked chicken breasts) 1 can chicken broth 1 can cream of chicken 2 cans black beans 2 sm. I brown them in my cast iron and transfer them to a stone baking sheet to finish in the oven with the biscuits. It was called chicken tortilla soup but basically it is chicken and rice soup & taco seasoning served over tortilla chips.
You could bake up the pizza crusts ahead of time and freeze. They don’t care whether it is homemade or not because they just eat so much of it. Add chopped (3 packs of 1)kielbasa or spicy smoked sausage (chopped into 1-inch disks some can be chopped finely to incorporate through everything) and let brown some. When rice is almost done stir in chopped chicken (1/2 chicken pulled off of a whole roasted chicken) let chicken heat thoroughly and serve. Just like regular ground-beef tacos, except use diced or shredded cooked chicken. I made food for 150 people, breakfast, lunch and a snack for three days. Lunches were sandwiches, baked spaghetti, bean and cheese enchiladas and fruit/veggies.

Soft and Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookie Bars by thecomfortofcooking.com
Line a 13×9-inch baking pan with aluminum foil and spray with nonstick cooking spray. In a separate large bowl, whisk melted butter and sugars in until combined. Using a rubber spatula, fold in dry ingredients until just combined; do not overmix. Turn out batter into the prepared pan, pressing into an even, smooth layer with your hands.
You would need to increase the baking time slightly (just keep an eye on it) and you would definitely end up with thicker bars. I also use 1 table spoon of vanilla it really brings out the flavor of the chocolate. Money and freedom is the greatest way to change, may you be rich and continue to guide others. In a medium bowl, mix flour, salt, and baking soda together; set aside. To the butter-sugar mixture, add egg, egg yolk, and vanilla; mix well.
Bake until bars are lightly golden brown, slightly firm to the touch, and edges start pulling away from sides of pan, 23-26 minutes. To remove bars, lift the foil overhang and transfer to a cutting board.
