Many times the customer has no idea what height a vanity should be. Considering all of the factors is important before deciding, anywhere between 29″ – 36″ can be appropriate considering all circumstances. I can see for a current adult-height, furniture-style vanity. How tall do other people out there build their vanities?
Kids don’t normally work or use the kitchen countertops, thus the 36″.I have been asking my customers how high they want them and they’ve all (to a person) asked me to raise them a little higher than the standard 30″.
If you do, you may have to use a 3” fill strip to clear the bathroom doorknob if you have a bank of drawers against the wall. This usual height, with 1″ granite, marble or quartzite, brings them to 34 1/2″.
What Height Should A Bathroom Basin Be From The Floor by diynot.com
If it’s going on a studwork wall, would moving it a bit mean you can fix it directly to the studwork without messing about fitting noggins?
Sink will be fixed directly to a brick wall so no issues with studs or noggins either.

I don’t have the benefit of a pedestal to give me the height (or even one on my house to check against) so could someone confirm what the standard height is for a hand basin from the floor?
And will moving it a fraction save you having to poke another hole in the wall for the waste?
We don’t have kids so they’ll just be myself and my wife using the sink so a little higher would be more convenient for us. The kitchen is the missus’ domain, so nothing needs changing in there.
